BMW 1600 GT (1967-1968)

The BMW 1600 GT appeared on the market in 1967 shortly after BMW's acquisition of Glas following the bankruptcy of the latter. BMW then took over the models, including the 1300 and 1700 GT, which originally belonged to another German manufacturer that had closed its doors: Borgward, before being taken over as projects by Glas. Aesthetically speaking, the 1600 GT closely resembles Glas's 1300 and 1700 GT (except for the addition of the BMW kidney grille on the front...). It is mechanically where the differences are more pronounced: BMW engine, gearbox, and differential enhance the German coupe. Unfortunately, the model did not meet its target and after a year of production and 1259 units produced, it was discontinued and replaced by the BMW 2002...
